Welcome To Chad Wallace Studio
You are invited to explore the narrative as well as symbolic qualities found within the pages of this site. Trained as an illustrator, I always aim to include a storytelling aspect to my artwork. Whether it's a LANDSCAPE, FIGURE DRAWING, WILDLIFE ART, or CHILDREN'S BOOK, there is often an underlying metaphor attached.
I believe that picture books allow for a wide range of creative expression. It is my goal to become the author/illustrator of children's book concepts I initiate. There is a certain unity in picture books written and illustrated by the same individual. The books I admire most are those that successfully merge words and pictures in a way that is mutually beneficial.
I am often drawn to themes involving animals in natural settings. I draw in a semi-realistic style, but I like to anthropomorphize my animal subjects to engage the viewer's imagination, and inject humor where appropriate. In my ten years as a professional, I have been a part of six titles including:
Pass the Energy Please!, Earth Day Birthday, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow of the Poetry For Young People series.
I currently maintain a studio in Westchester County, N.Y where I continue to draw the places I visit and imagine. For a complete overview of my work, please visit my on-line BLOG updated daily.
